Throughout the lessons I have attended in my first week in college, the main lesson of communication and culture which has stuck in my head is when Nina taught us 'The process approach'. This process is all about the way things are communicated and got us thinking clearly about the message of what had been said or showed to us. The process approach is: SENDER-MESSAGE-RECEIVER, this may sound simple enough ,honestly I thought so too, but when you stop and clearly analyse the message, you realize the depth of the meaning. The message square contains the content (what is being said) and the form (how it is said, verbal, non-verbal, text, email, pictorial, radio or t.v)
What is communication? the question sounds easy enough to answer but the explanation is alot more complex than first anticipated. The first week of lessons have been based around how things are communicated and the way you communicate with different types of people such as friends and family,
Does the way you communicate change based on the type of person?
Overall communication and culture is alot different to what I anticipated it would be, I have found the first week interesting and I'm sure the rest of the year my knowledge will expand even more.
